About the role
Your mission as Director of Hardware Solutions is to define and lead the strategic direction, development, and lifecycle of the hardware ecosystem that powers the Vita Mojo platform. Reporting to the CEO, you will be the single accountable owner for our hardware strategy, ensuring our device estate is stable, supportable, scalable, and a strategic enabler for our SaaS offering.
You will build and lead a dedicated hardware team, fostering a culture of innovation, excellence, and proactive problem-solving. This pivotal leadership role blends technical expertise with strategic business acumen, ensuring that the hardware we recommend and deploy reflects our long-term technical vision and delivers excellent client value.
The day-to-day
You'll be responsible for:
●Strategic Vision & Roadmap: Defining and owning the overarching hardware strategy and long-term roadmap, ensuring seamless alignment with Vita Mojo's platform, product, and business objectives.
●Team Leadership & Development: Building, mentoring, and leading a high-performing hardware team, including the Hardware Support Engineers and Hardware Operations team, fostering their growth and ensuring operational excellence.
●Partnership & Vendor Management: Establishing and nurturing strategic relationships with key hardware vendors, manufacturers, and technology partners to secure supply, drive innovation, negotiate favourable terms, and optimise cost and quality.
●Hardware Portfolio Management: Overseeing the entire lifecycle of our hardware portfolio, from research and evaluation of new technologies to rigorous selection, efficient deployment, and strategic end-of-life planning.
●Commercial & Business Alignment: Collaborating closely with the Commercial team to shape compelling client-facing hardware proposals, define clear hardware offerings, and ensure our solutions meet market demands and business profitability goals.
●Technical Governance & Standards: Working hand-in-hand with Engineering to establish robust technical specifications, rigorous validation processes, and stringent quality standards for all hardware, ensuring compatibility, reliability, and long-term supportability.
●Scalability & Operational Excellence Strategy: Defining the strategic approach for managing our hardware fleet at scale, including the architecture of support systems, observability frameworks, field deployment logistics, and requirements for internal tooling.
●Mass Migrations & OS Lifecycle Transitions: Providing strategic oversight and direction for large-scale hardware migrations (e.g., legacy Android versions, estate upgrades) and critical operating system lifecycle transitions.
●Market Intelligence & Innovation: Proactively monitoring industry trends, competitive landscapes, and emerging hardware opportunities to inform strategic decisions, identify risks, and maintain Vita Mojo's competitive edge
About you
You're likely a seasoned leader with a strong blend of technical depth and strategic business acumen, and you're passionate about the intersection of hardware and software in delivering exceptional customer experiences.
●You possess proven leadership experience in defining and executing hardware strategy, ideally within a SaaS or product-led technology company.
●You have a deep understanding of hardware ecosystems, particularly field-deployed Android or POS devices, and their constraints and failure modes.
●You are adept at building and leading high-performing technical teams, with a track record of mentorship and talent development.
●You have significant experience in strategic vendor management, including negotiation, supply chain optimisation, and quality assurance.
●You're comfortable reading between technical, commercial, and operational lines, translating complex concepts into clear strategic plans and actionable initiatives.
●You are a highly structured and decisive leader, capable of making thoughtful, risk-aware decisions with incomplete data.
●You are an exceptional communicator, capable of building trust and influencing outcomes across diverse technical, commercial, and operational audiences, including senior leadership and external partners.
●Bonus points if you:
○Have direct experience with Android-based kiosks, POS, or payment terminals at a strategic level.
○Have experience defining and implementing large-scale hardware management tools or platforms (e.g., MDM, remote support, device analytics).
○Possess a deep understanding of embedded operating system lifecycles and long-term support timelines.
